When purchasing lpg tanks, many customers were puzzled by the expected service life indicated above: basically all lpg tanks were marked with " expected service life of lpg tanks: 10 years" in their design calculations and drawings.
General customers ( especially those who want to build a new station ) are very confused about the 10 - year life span. In fact, the 10 - year mark here refers to the expected data given by the liquefied gas storage tank according to the design parameters and use conditions of the container during the design. it is not the actual service life of the container. Its purpose is to remind the user that when the service life exceeds the design service life, the inspection period should be shortened and necessary preventive measures should be strengthened.
Article 32 of the regulation on safety and technical supervision of pressure vessels ( abbreviated as ronggui ) stipulates: " in order to prevent safety problems caused by over-life operation of pressure vessels, the design unit shall generally indicate the design service life of pressure vessels on the design drawings." Similarly, article 220.127.116.11 of GB 150 - 1998 " steel pressure vessel" stipulates: " the corrosion allowance shall be determined according to the expected life of the vessel and the corrosion rate of the medium to the material". it can be seen that both require the design unit to have a clear expectation and representation of the design service life of the pressure vessel. as far as most designers are concerned, neither of them is willing to indicate the design service life of the pressure vessel on the drawing, because the determination of the design service life of the pressure vessel is a relatively complicated problem, which involves many factors such as the selection of materials, the determination of the corrosion amount, the design of the vessel structure, the service environment, etc. Of course, the design service life is an expected data given by the designer according to the design parameters and service conditions of the container. it is not the actual service life of the container. its function is to remind the user that when the service life exceeds the design service life, the inspection period should be shortened and necessary preventive measures should be strengthened. Generally speaking, to determine the design service life of liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks, the following points should be considered: ① selection of materials; ② determination of corrosion allowance; ③ rationality and anticorrosion of container structure design; ④ scientific of manufacturing process; ⑤ abnormal factors ( e.g. over-operating conditions, etc. ). ⑥ for low temperature insulated pressure vessels, insulation life should also be considered. According to the international design practice for pressure vessels, the design service life of pressure vessels should be marked on the drawings. only in this way can the spirit of being highly responsible to users and equipment safety be truly manifested, and the explosion accidents of pressure vessels can be greatly reduced ( illegal operation and long-term operation exceeding the design service life are the main factors causing the explosion of pressure vessels ). Except for some special or important equipment, generally we can set the design service life at 10 - 15 years ( for example, the determination of corrosion allowance in table 3 - 3 of the safety and technical supervision regulations for pressure vessels is also determined by the design service life of 10 - 15 years )
